Richard & Mary from Norfolk "We are thrilled with our new kitchen and are very pleased with the quality of the units supplied. We had a number of occasions to contact DIY-Kitchens, and we always found the staff very welcoming and friendly, as well as giving us useful advice and help. Many thanks to all who helped us, from design, through delivery, to telephone and online help.

The original flat-pack oak kitchen was put in completely by myself in 1994/5 (apart from the boiler). But the time had come when it was looking a bit tired, dated and dark. We researched many suppliers and makers of kitchens for nearly six months, before deciding to try DIY-Kitchens on the recommendation of our son who is an experienced builder, and after reading reviews by the "Which" consumer magazine.

I spent several weeks using the kitchen planning online site for DIY-Kitchens, trying different combinations and colours, before arriving at our ideal kitchen design. Rather than just ordering, we stayed near Pontefract for a week and visited DIY-Kitchens to view their showrooms and toured the factory. We then finally decided to sit down with a kitchen planning consultant and finalise the design specifications.

After a week or so, we put in our order, but we were slightly disappointed to learn of a nine-week delivery date because of the paint shop upgrade. It seemed that DIY-Kitchens was getting too popular and had to increase capacity! In the meanwhile, our old kitchen (two open-plan rooms over a split-level) was removed. The ceilings were lowered, the floors given a screed and all the walls were re-plastered. The plumbing and electrics were 90% overhauled, and coving added, everything was painted, and new flooring laid. Both window sills were tiled using oiled and polished terracotta tiles, and new electrical sockets installed.

A few delayed items from DIY-Kitchens finally arrived and the new units were installed over the next few weeks. Prime oak worktops from a different supplier were cut and profiled to fit and given three coats of Danish oil, top and bottom, then three coats of food-grade Osmo Oil to finish. Kitchen sinks were then fitted and the boiler housing was radically cut to size and fitted. Pelmet was used for both underneath and above all wall units, the quadrant pelmet made by myself to fit the rounded corner units. Filler panels and plinth were finally fitted.

All the tiling, grouting and sealants carried out over a couple of weeks. Some in-cabinet and under-cabinet LED lighting was fitted to the glazed display units the first week in January 2020. In all, the whole project from concept to the completed kitchen took about fifteen months, although the installation took about five months. A very long process, but very satisfying to see the final result."

Catherine from Norfolk "Having moved here last year. I purchased a kitchen which was fitted in March, to replace a very tired old painted kitchen in my very awkward-shaped room.

We decided to purchase from you following recommendations in Which? magazine and were very impressed with the range of styles and different shapes which you supply.

We are absolutely delighted with the result. We have far more units, with far more storage than we had before but somehow the kitchen seems more spacious. I enclose a couple of photos taken prior to installation of the new kitchen although the pictures make it look better than it was. I also enclose several pictures after fitting and decoration."

David & Sue from Gloucestershire " Here is our Linwood Cashmere kitchen installed on our new 57ft narrowboat!

Obviously we had some difficulty in getting the units into the boat as the doors are only just over 2ft wide. Manoevering units in a space only 6ft wide was also interesting!

We are very pleased with the kitchen. The colour complements the interior design of the boat very well and blends seamlessly with the rustic fully boarded timber interior.

The quality of build is excellent, and we made full use of curved units and accessories, such as the wine rack to make the most of the limited space."

Carla from Thetford "I am delighted to send you photos of my Linwood Vanilla and Sage Green kitchen. I had set my heart on having an overmantle and struggled to find a kitchen company that could supply one. I came across DIY kitchens whilst browsing online and I'm so glad I found you !

Although I live in Norfolk I made the trip to the showroom twice, once to choose the kitchen and then again to confirm final details. I definitely recommend visiting, so refreshing to find the showroom staff were not hard selling bonus hunters! Brian helped us on both visits, he might remember me as I came with my dad who's also called Brian!

From initial contact to delivery every single thing was totally professional, much better quality than Wren, B&Q etc and I'm unable to find fault at all which is very unusual nowadays.

The only mistake we made was ordering a laminate worktop to go with curved ended base units. We really struggled to get a carpenter who could cut the curves accurately and wish we had known that it was such an issue. The edging strip just doesn't sit well with a curved edge worktop so avoid this, as it's meant that in the very near future I'm going to have to replace all the worktop with solid oak.

I'm very happy to recommend DIY kitchens and hope you like my kitchen! "

Elizabeth from Dumfries "Here are some photos of our lovely new kitchen.

You may remember I was your 'nightmare' customer! I had to keep changing the order as I measured up myself and not being well experienced in kitchen installation, got it wrong. My son-in-law - John Baird, who also ordered his kitchen from you and recommended you to me was advising me over the phone and also put the kitchen in for us when it arrived.

As you can see it all fitted in really well.

The units are Linwood Painted and we love the country style.

We are really impressed with the quality and also your customer service. The lady I spoke to (on numerous occasions!) was so friendly and patient with me. Also we enjoyed the tea and bikkies you sent with the delivery.

Thank you so much. "

Claire from Leicestershire "We found DIY kitchens through a recommendation, we visited the showroom in Wakefield which gave us ideas both for what we did and didn't want, and helpful staff answered some key questions we had. I found the design really easy, I'm a complete novice, not even very handy at DIY! But with a tape measure and the paper diagrams provided it was easy.

Ordering was also easy, not dissimilar to my supermarket shop filling up the basket! I read the guidelines about the more technical pieces, eg end pieces, cornice, pelmet, and again found them easy. The kitchen arrived when promised. We checked it all on arrival and no issues at all. My builder fitted it and said it was excellent quality and he is now recommending other customers to also consider DIY kitchens. We did get quotes from some of the other usual large suppliers and even with their best discounts none could come near DIY, and they were also quoting for a lesser quality product, so it was an easy decision for us.

I like that my kitchen was made in the UK, supporting a British business. But mostly am absolutely delighted with the finished kitchen which has made a big difference to our home. I really enjoy inviting people round now to enjoy it with us. "
