Charlotte Greedy 'Charlotte Greedy (@missgreedyshome - Instagram) and author of the book “You Do You”, was embarking on renovating her 1960s home in the heart of Wales. She discovered DIY Kitchens online and instantly fell in love with our Helmsley Inframe kitchen style.
The option to have a bespoke colour choice (Valspar Coconut Juice), was a real deal breaker and she loved the flexibility of our online kitchen planner that helped design her dream kitchen that best suited her needs, whilst keeping within budget.
Charlotte is always mindful of her renovation projects and that they must be in keeping with helping others to keep their own costs down on their kitchen renovations. DIY Kitchens helped her to achieve just that!

We came across DIY Kitchens through a Google search. After receiving quotes for our kitchen, which were in the £40k - £50k range, I was determined to find a more reasonably priced kitchen without sacrificing appearance and quality! So in that regard, we saved £30k and none of our friends or family can tell the difference between our kitchen and the ones they've bought from Neptune and Tom Howley! Even our friend who works at Howdens was impressed.
We've built our house from scratch this year (it's a barn conversion) and so I've included a "before" photo.'

We visited the showroom and took some ideas away. We saw the knib out the island that made the drinks chiller a feature and implemented that into our design. Really pleased with the quality of the kitchen, the soft close doors and the colours also. '
Margherita from the Socttish Borders 'We were sure that we wanted an inframe kitchen, as we felt that it was important to us for durability, as we are a family of 5 and it would need to withstand the constant opening and closing of cupboards.
When visiting high end kitchen suppliers, we also noticed that the inframe feature was something that really elevated the look of the kitchen with regards to the overall quality. Once this was decided, my sister-in-law recommended yourselves, as she had fitted the Hemsley kitchen in her house a few years ago.
When ordering samples and realising the bespoke colours were an option, we really knew that this was going to be the way forward in planning our kitchen. The planning was the trickiest part but with some help, we managed to come to a final decision.
Price wise, you could not be matched, we had been hit with some really high prices and were getting a little disheartening at the thought that maybe an inframe kitchen was not going to be in our price range.
As the kitchen was such a great price, we then had the option to add the upgrade features, dovetail drawers, glass drawer side etc. This also meant that we could spend more on our handles and appliances.

The flexibility to choose your own units to make your dream kitchen was really easy & such a vast array to chose from. Alongside the units we were able to build banquette seating, an island peninsular and cooker hood, all in keeping with our design & utilising a lot of the units from DIY. We also had the freedom to create our own wall to wall dresser/entertainment station.
Price wise, DIY were very competitive and purchasing from elsewhere would certainly have cost us so much more money. The quality of everything was just as expected & we easily got any issues rectified (I forgot to order a couple of things), so customer service was good also. My husband was recommended DIY by other trades people he knows.'

From the moment the kitchen was delivered, the units felt solid and well constructed. The fact that all cabinets come pre-assembled is a huge advantage, as you’re sure that they have been built correctly. All units get lots of use and there are no signs of fatigue (after 9 months). Excellent overall impression! The kitchen was a surprisingly superb quality, and I don’t mean that disrespectfully! It’s just that we ordered it online and we were concerned about what would be delivered compared to the likes of Howdens or Magnet.
As a builder, I have installed many kitchens, and this compares very well to all of them! The build quality is second to none and it went in like a dream!
I also found the design process easy to use and the help I got when trying to design the custom island was excellent; although a better visualisation of the colours is needed to show my wife what it would actually look like, would have helped!
My wife is a stylist, so follows a lot of Instagram accounts that often mentioned DIY Kitchens as an option for us, and for me the anecdotal experiences I read convinced me to give it a try.
We made considerable savings on both the main kitchen and the pantry I built, both Howdens and Magnet were significantly more expensive; even though I have trade discounts with them, there was no comparison!'

The pantry shown in some of the photos, is actually old DIY kitchen units that made up the original kitchen the previous owners had installed, (which has since been knocked down during the renovation). I liked the units but hated the old kitchen. However, with new handles, worktop and flooring they have been transformed. Just shows how well made they are as they look brand new with a new lease of life as a pantry!
We love the kitchen, it has lived up to all the planning and visualising over the past two years and surpassed our expectations. We had quotes for similar styles, to be honest some weren’t even quotes for in-frame designs or bespoke colours (which our DIY kitchen is) and they were coming in at double DIY Kitchens' prices.

Dawn from Hertfordshire 'I found DIY Kitchens on Instagram when trawling for ideas for our house renovations. An account I follow had a DIY kitchen and her feedback was really positive. We already had a quote from a local kitchen supplier but I was having to compromise on the style and unit selection to fall within our budget.
My husband wasn’t convinced, so one Sunday we made the long drive to the DIY Kitchens showroom. This visit clinched the deal and on our return home, I set about planning our kitchen on your website.
I found the planning tool the trickiest part of the process, which for anyone without a bit of knowledge, might be impossible to navigate. After a number of attempts, measuring and pondering over unit styles, we came up with a plan.
DIY were brilliant at guiding me through selecting components for bespoke items that our builder/kitchen fitter needed to create the cooker overmantle, end of island drawer/shelf unit and pantry units/shelves.
The quality and construction of units was excellent. Our builder was really impressed and loved the dovetail drawer upgrade. We had a couple of damaged items but all issues were resolved promptly.
We created a kitchen of our dreams for a fraction of the price. Would and have recommended to others. '

We first saw DIY Kitchens from a Google search, then discovered a couple of friends had used DIY Kitchens and after checking the Which? report and realising it was top of the Best Buy list, decided we needed to know more!
As we're down south, we really wanted to check out the quality first hand and didn't want to travel all the way to the showroom, so put a note on NextDoor asking if anyone would be kind enough to show us their DIY Kitchen in exchange for a bottle of wine!
A few people responded and visiting a couple, the kitchens looked great and more importantly the people were singing DIY Kitchens praises even with them being installed for a few years.
We went with Helmsley Cashmere and a Helmsley Custom Painted for the island and are so happy with everything about it. The quality is fantastic, the online tools for designing were easy to use and the portal for managing the orders and communications were great.
The fitters said the units were very easy to fit and very happy they came fully prebuilt, which they don't usually see.
Pricewise DIY Kitchens were the cheapest by far and considering we went for the solid wood, inframe products with custom paint in places, they were still cheaper than the midrange MDF versions of Howdens, Wren, Magnet etc.
For the appliances we checked online elsewhere and DIY Kitchens were actually cheaper than the other online sellers, so we got most appliances through them.
All in all, we are so happy with our kitchen, and the flapjacks and Yorkshire tea were a very nice welcome touch! :)'

The quality of the kitchen is unbelievable for the price. We also added our own touches to make it more unique, as well as the ‘extra’ dovetail jointed drawers (which seems to be a hidden secret!), so overall we are extremely happy with the end result!'

We ordered and were given a delivery date, later on we were given a delivery time for the day. Our order arrived on the day and bang on time with two young lads who were extremely friendly and efficient. Everything came very well packaged and protected, not one item missing and not one item damaged. All credit to DIY Kitchens.
Our builders did the installation for us. They were not familiar with DIY Kitchens but were full of praise for the quality and finish of the units.
For our part, we are really happy with our new kitchen, especially the corner larder unit which my wife loves!'

The mock up kitchens on show also gave us ideas we hadn’t considered before, which was really useful.
Using DIY Kitchens' online planning tool, we entered the dimensions of our kitchen and then you can start planning it. You can load the different size units into place on the planner and move them around, it also reminds you of end panels, in between panels and filler panels as you go along.
We chose the Helmsley design in the cornflower blue colour for our main kitchen and utility room with a contrasting mussel colour for the island. The great thing with DIY Kitchens is everything is individually priced, so for example if you decide to choose your handles or counter tops from elsewhere you can, then once you have decided on your design you can see what it will look like in 3D.
Delivery was on time and within the week specified. We did have a large order with about 74 boxes to open and check, and there were in fact a few issues. However we contacted DIY Kitchens the next day and without question they put things right straight away. The kitchen is now our favourite room in the house, we are very happy with the cost and quality and would highly recommend.'

We were keen to use a local Leamington based company for the quartz worktops, and we matched the aged brass handles from a company called Yesterhome. Probably the biggest advantage of using DIY Kitchens for us (beyond the significant cost saving) was the ability to completely customise the kitchen ourselves, using the brilliant online planner; this meant that we could continually make tweaks and adjustments, as our ideas changed, which just isn't possible with traditional kitchen companies.
We did have lots of questions along the way, but the messaging function was really helpful and we received responses within 24 hours to all of our queries.

You sent me door samples which seemed very good quality. Other comparable kitchens were at least twice as expensive. You had a large number of kitchens to select from. You had a big choice of unit widths. With other companies some of the wall units would be different widths than the base units, which would have looked odd.
Your customer service team were really good. I have MS and had struggled to find a suitable wheelchair accessible kitchen. I could not find many pictures or adverts to help me design one. The kitchen also had to work well for the rest of my family and I did not want it to look much different from a regular kitchen.
Corinne was amazing and helped me to design a sink unit, which I can drive under, which makes such a difference to me. I also have a low level breakfast bar. We eat here and I bake on it, it is so useful for everybody to use.
I also designed the kitchen not to have a big, difficult to reach right-angled cupboard either side of the cooker. I just have a small unit each side of it which means that I can have an extra drawer and cupboard on the other side of the units in the dining space which is very useful.

We made the decision to move our kitchen from a separate room in our house to the main living space in our stone barn. This was a scary decision as it needed to fit seemlessly into an already established room. I was keen on a bespoke kitchen but knew that with our budget, that would be out of the question. We had good look at all the other high street brands but nothing seemed to work with the old rustic look or stone wall that would be a feature in the new space.
We were introduced to DIY kitchens by a neighbour who had just had a kitchen fitted. We were so impressed with the quality of the units and loved the fact that they were almost bespoke ie you could choose which side cupboard doors were hung and the units arrived fully assembled. When I found out that the painted units I liked the look of were made from solid wood we were sold and I was excited to incorporate unpainted units into my island idea.
DIY Kitchens offered so many unit sizes and styles (far more than its competitors) and the customer service was incredibly helpful when I was unsure of whether my design would work. We opted for a quartz worktop which had a rust effect running through it. This was such a success as we couldn’t find anything similar with any other companies. The quartz worktop blended beautifully with the stone and all my rustic accessories.
We are delighted with the finished kitchen, complete with 2 metre square island which sits over an old elm unit we adapted. Everything about it is perfect and I can honestly say that it has changed our lives. Several people have commented that it fits in so well and have asked whether we had to take out a new mortgage to pay for what they thought was a bespoke kitchen! '

We were between DIY Kitchens and one other company, however, they had a 12 month lead time, and didn't deliver to Scotland. We picked DIY as they were easy to deal with and we were happy with the samples we ordered. We also liked the significant flexibility in cabinet combination and sizing to fit any oven or built in appliance.
The customer service team were fantastic and very quick to respond to queries. Mick was really helpful ensuring our vision eventuated into a real kitchen and made sure all the cabinets would line up how we wanted (as the island was complicated). The order was also checked over before finalising in case any minor detail is overlooked.
The delivery team were extremely careful and diligent moving the cabinets into the house and explained how to check for damage and the process if we were not happy with a quality issue. Once the kitchen was unpacked and installed, it was noted there was a damaged drawer (from transport). This was easily and briskly resolved with replacement being sent.
As you can see from the pictures, we are super happy with our kitchen, it has transformed how we interact as a family, entertain friends and is now the main hub of our house. We are very happy with the quality, finish, strength of the drawers, shelves and doors. Everyone that visits thinks the same!'

We converted some existing out buildings at the back of our house (garage/stable) into a new kitchen/dining space and created a “snug” where the existing very dated pine kitchen was before. I have attached some photos of the outside of the building before we started so you can see the development take shape.
I heard about DIY Kitchens from a number of different places but mainly a Facebook group I’m in that was talking about where people had sourced their kitchens from, and how much they paid! Initially I thought that DIY kitchens meant that I would have to build everything from scratch and that the process would be a more manual/laborious one, but once I realised and found the online planner, I’ve been hooked - including designing some kitchens for other friends and family! 😊
I work in Rotherham, so managed to sneak out of the office early one afternoon to visit the showroom and I was totally blown away by the quality, options, ranges and just how lovely everything looked there. The staff were really friendly and helpful and it was a really happy at
I chose the in-frame Helmsley in Mussel and Cobham blue – my kitchen fitters were very impressed with the solid built cabinets, and the fact that all of the doors were already on! The cabinets, the doors and all of the worktops look just how I imagined they would with a high quality feel and finish that looks very high-end without the price tag; the overall customer experience was a great one. The worktop templaters were lovely and turned around our installation, from measuring up, in a week!
I’m not sure the photos really do it justice, but we are so delighted with our new living space, and it certainly its a huge talking point with our friends and family and visitors to the house.

The support from the customer service team was good with quick response times. Delivery was delayed however we were notified of this in advance. We had some damaged items but replacements were issued relatively quickly. The quality is fantastic in comparison to some of the well known kitchen brands and it allowed me to be creative with my design.
My very particular carpenter was very impressed by the quality of the doors when making the carcass for the utility space (around the American fridge).
We used a carpenter and kitchen fitter to give us a bespoke kitchen feel and the same in the utility - I wanted skirting rather than plinth; to go as high as possible in the kitchen cabinets to fill unutilised space and to carry the kitchen through in to the utility. I think we achieved it.
Despite a price increase before my order, and us using a carpenter and kitchen fitter (who were not cheap but worth every penny!) we still managed to come in lower than the quote given to us by high street kitchen brands, whos designs we found to be very unimaginative! They said I couldn’t do what I designed, so I’ve proven them wrong thanks to diy kitchens. The delivery team were good too. '

As you can see I did use units in perhaps a way not intended to create a breakfast bar - which actually tend to be where I sit with my computer now and the only difficulty was the rounded corner units, which don't have all the sizes on line, leaving me with a bit of worktop adjustment.
I used oak tops and decided that as I was going around two corners, I didn't want to have a right angled line of laminated wood so I made two wide sections of worktop to get the depth and cut them to give a 45degree angle which to me seems more naturally flowing.
I routed the underside of the worktops where they overhang and inset LED lights. This was to be honest a bit challenging to say the least but the end result works I think.
I've enclosed the before shot of a temporary kitchen I quickly knocked up when I started the house renovation. I figured it would be in place about a year or so. Ten years later.....'

The shallow 300mm cupboards allowed us to make excellent use of otherwise wasted space and our little kitchen bench was made by adapting a strengthened top-box unit on legs.
We wanted a bespoke kitchen and DIY Kitchens allowed us to get the look we wanted for a fraction of the cost. We requested that the cabinets came finished with just a primer coat so that we could hand-paint them in-situ for a more handmade look to match our colourful terrazzo floor.
The cabinets are incredibly solid and easy to fit and we're confident that they're going to last us for years to come. When we get bored or the paint begins to look tired, we can refresh the whole look of the kitchen with just a new lick of paint.
Our incredibly fussy cat loves the new space too. If only he would keep off the worktops and stick to the bench!

Our wooden worktops are reclaimed school science desks The rest are Corian. A carpenter made the doors for our Hotpoint drawer fridges to match the DIY Kitchens cabinets. The tall broom cupboard and extractor box are also custom.'

This has been very much a DIY project in a new-build house, as I have done all the installation myself. We discovered DIY Kitchens from a web search and were impressed with how the ordering process gives you a very large range of options to customise your kitchen just as you want it.
We chose a paler grey for the units around two walls, and a darker grey for the island. We placed the order just as the covid pandemic was starting, despite which delivery was only slightly delayed and I was able to progress the work steadily.
The units and accessories were well packed and straightforward to assemble. The quality was good and I have been particularly impressed with the toughness of the paint finish – it has withstood various minor knocks, and although you provided some touch up paint I have not so far had to use it.'
